WASTE COLLECTION AND TRANSPORT WITH ECODEAL

The collection and transport of industrial waste should not be neglected by the entities involved.

In Portugal, thousands of tonnes of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste are produced annually, which require not only effective treatment solutions but also safe collection and transport in compliance with the rulling regulations.

WHO MAY COLLECT AND TRANSPORT HAZARDOUS WASTE?

The collection and transport of waste in Portugal can be made by the final destination of the waste by a company holding a license for commercial road haulage.

In Portugal, waste transport operations, in particularly hazardous waste, must follow the rulling applicable law, for example, the transport must be accompanied by the Waste Monitoring Guide – Model A, according to the information provided in the Ministerial Order no. 335/97 of May 16th, embodied in Model no. 1428 of the Portuguese Mint (INCM).

If dealing with construction and demolition waste (RCD), the transport should be made according to the Construction and Demolition Waste Monitoring Guide (GARCD), following the model contained in Ministerial Order no. 417/2008 of June 11th.

ECODEAL provides instructions for the completion of the Waste Monitoring Guide – Model A and the Construction and Demolition Waste Monitoring Guide (GARCD) here.

It is up to the producer and/or holder of the waste to ensure that the transport thereof is carried out in accordance with current legal standards and that the recipient is duly entitled to receive the waste in question.

Where the waste to be transported is considered to be dangerous goods, the entities involved – namely the producer, holder and carrier of the waste – are required to comply with the rules provided for both the national legislation – the National Regulation for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road (RPE) – and the European legislation under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), as well as other legal provisions underlying the activity.
